Updates to OSE Rogues Gallery and Reference Booklet

The Old-School Essentials 2026 update is coming soon, and we’re refreshing some of our supplements to reflect this.

Rogues Gallery - Updated Lore, Printed Cards Coming Soon

The Rogues Gallery, our collection of 21 ready-to-run pregenerated characters, has had some minor lore tweaks in the character descriptions to align with the world revealed in the upcoming OSE Starter Set. But that’s not all. We’re also planning a printed deck of cards version, which will let you carry the entire roster in a portable, durable, table-friendly form!

Reference Booklet Refresh

The Old-School Essentials Reference Booklet has been given an all-new cover, plus some small updates to match the rules clarifications in the OSE 2026 Update. We’ve also added complete Wilderness Encounter tables as well as options for weapon specialisation and multi-classing.

You can already feast your eyes on the cover illustration by Peter Mullen and check out the updated PDF version, with a new print version coming February 25th.

Knights of the Wood: The Duke's Tourney

Raise your banner and ready your lance, for a most honourable third-party supplement for Dolmenwood has entered the lists!

Knights of the Wood: The Duke’s Tourney is a toolkit designed to bring the full spectacle of medieval chivalry to your campaign. Themed around Duke Thespian III’s legendary midsummer tourney at Castle Brackenwold, it offers a complete, modular framework for running tournaments of any scale, from a single dramatic joust to a week-long festival of peril and pageantry.

Highlights include:

  • Tournament Events: The Joust, The Mêlée, The Duke’s Hunt, archery contests, magical displays, and chaotic squires’ battles.
  • Courtly & Social Play: Romance, favors, feasts, dances, political intrigue, and reputation management.
  • Expanded Options: Knight class advancements, a Renown system, heraldry rules, masterwork prizes, and noble warhorses.
  • Referee Tools: Dozens of NPC rivals, dramatic happenings, opponent generators, pre-gen jousters, and ready-to-run hooks.
  • Human-made Artwork: From public domain works and commissioned pieces.
  • Premium Printouts: Including tournament proclamations, ready reference cards, and other immersive tabletop tools.

Although knights feature prominently, fighters, hunters, bards, and even magicians can all carve out reputations at the tourney, making sure that the entire party can participate.

The Duke’s Tourney is a great resource for referees who want to flesh out Dolmenwood’s chivalric inspirations with memorable spectacle and emergent storytelling. If the whole book seems like too much knight for your taste, you can also grab smaller modules or browse free random generators on the author’s website.

OSE Month Collaborators: The Merry Mushmen & Afterthought Committee

OSE Month 2026 arrives this May, bringing together a host of standout creators from across the old-school RPG scene for a massive, demon-fuelled crowdfunding celebration, alongside our own Demonic Grimoire.

Allow us to introduce some more of the brilliant collaborators working to unleash hell:

The Merry Mushmen

Europe-based publishers The Merry Mushmen have long been movers and shakers in the OSR scene, bringing together talented writers and artists for the fantastic KNOCK! zine (5 issues and counting!), and a slew of OSE-compatible adventures and supplements such as Nightmare Over Ragged Hollow and A Folklore Bestiary.

The Mushmen’s OSE Month offering is No Devil’s Land, a hexcrawl adventure for characters level 3–5 by Eric Nieudan and Bruno Prosaiko set in a demonic realm where the norms of time and space have broken down. We expect to see the Mushmen’s usual flair for challenge, open-ended exploration, engaging NPCs, and dark humour in this trek across the netherworld.

Afterthought Committee

Afterthought Committee made their mark in the OSE community with Zed and Two Noughts and Tangled, both easy-to-run 0-level funnels designed to turn a horde of hapless commoners into a fellowship of fledgling adventurers, testing their mettle in weird and wonderful scenarios.

Authors Josh Domanski & Reilly Qyote team up with artist Evangeline Gallagher for the third and final funnel of the trilogy, Dinner With The Damned. Complete with full rules for generating 0-level characters, this adventure invites your neophyte PCs to a sinister soiree, proving that demonic adversaries aren’t reserved for high-level play. It also offers support for long-term campaigns using the rules in the Demonic Grimoire, making the forces of darkness an ongoing threat.
