OSE Month, Demonic Grimoire & New Dolmenwood Incoming!

Necrotic Gnome

We’re back from a wonderful weekend of meeting passionate fans and creators at PAX Unplugged! Many thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi! We also revealed some exciting new projects for Old-School Essentials and Dolmenwood, including:

OSE Month: A New Collaborative Community Event

Hark these words and mark your calendars for OSE Month, a new collaborative event across the entire Old-School Essentials community. In May 2026, the gates of the underworld will be thrown open, unleashing forbidden knowledge and stygian adventures for those who dare pledge themselves.

Exalted Funeral and Necrotic Gnome have joined forces with some of the finest creators in the OSR to deliver a month-long inferno of new books, adventures, monsters, and much more.

At the heart of this devilish celebration is the Demonic Grimoire—a massive 176-page rules supplement from Necrotic Gnome, packed with hellish delights:

  • 8 Demon Lords with their cults, rituals, spells, and infernal domains
  • 60 new monsters, from twisted larvae to towering archfiends
  • 4 new character classes: chaos knight, cultist, demon hunter, and tiefling
  • 70+ magic items forged in the fires of perdition
  • Rules for demonology, summoning, pacts, familiars, and magic circles
  • Referee tools for running full-on demonic campaigns
  • 120+ B&W illustrations from Lucas Korte, Kennon James, Tony Hough, Matt Stikker, and more.

But even this mighty tome cannot plumb the entire depths of the abyss. OSE Month 2026 will feature additional demon-themed projects from top creators across the community, including:

New Dolmenwood Supplements in the Works

Do you dare to delve into the deeper mysteries of Dolmenwood? We’ve got several supplements in the works designed to expand the fairy-haunted forest realm, including:

The Book of Lairs

Our first major full-size supplement, The Book of Lairs is an anthology of 20–30 short adventures and dungeons by different authors.

These lairs are designed for quick prep and easy insertion into any Dolmenwood campaign—perfect for hexcrawls, drop-in sessions, or when your players wander somewhere unexpected (as they always do).

Wormskin Returns!

The definitive Dolmenwood zine is back from its mossy slumber with Wormskin: Volume 2, Issue 1 now in development.

Much like Carcass Crawler is to OSE, the new Wormskin will serve as an ongoing expansion to the Dolmenwood core books. No new regions are planned, but expect rich lore articles, new monsters, curious items, short adventures, and other optional expansions.

Dolmenwood Quick Start (Free PDF!)

Perfect for newcomers or for introducing friends to the setting, we’re crafting a 16-page Quick Start containing:

  • A clear, friendly rules introduction
  • Pre-generated characters ready to play
  • A brand-new short adventure to get parties straight into the thick of fairy-haunted danger

This will be 100% free, making Dolmenwood easier than ever to try.

Gavin Talks Dolmenwood & Demons on Roll for Combat

Necrotic Gnome founder Gavin Norman joins the Roll for Combat team for over an hour of Dolmenwood talk, going through the development of the setting, with a little about OSE’s Demonic Grimoire in there too!
