There's a ton of third party Old-School Essentials Kickstarters for Zine Quest during the month of August, here are some highlights!

Secret of the Black Crag

From the writer of the acclaimed adventure The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford comes Secret of the Black Crag, an island-crawl sandbox adventure centered around a multi-level dungeon. The adventure begins in the pirate haven of Port Fortune, a wealthy port town situated in a tropical archipelago known as the Salamander Islands. Here a mysterious undersea mountain has risen up from the abyss, beckoning treasure hunters to explore its forgotten depths. Inspired by Atlantis the Lost Empire, Pirates of the Caribbean, Secret of Monkey Island. Pledge NOW!

Gary’s Appendix

The first in a series of zines inspired by the vast amount of information, rules, and guidance in the AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide. This issue features numerous articles, on topics such as wandering monsters, hiring a sage, introducing an element of chaos into encounters, and advice on making encounters with common monsters into unforgettable meetings. Tomb Robbers of the Crystal Frontier – Now in Print

The acclaimed adventure and introduction to the Crystal Frontier setting is now available in print! The Crystal Frontier is a desolate magic stained wasteland where fabulous crystal spires and fortresses plummet from the skies to tempt the desperate and the bold with magical gems and golden treasures. The adventure is ready for use as a drop in adventure locale in almost any fantasy world, and emphasizes problem solving, faction intrigue and exploration in the tradition of classic dungeon crawl adventures, but with a phantasmagoric fantasy Western aesthetic. The 2022 printed version now contains additional content! A regional map of the Frontier, new art and a second crystal tomb, the 8 page adventure Common Grave. PDF + Print available from DriveThruRPG.

Arête

Hades is not happy. His favorite pet Cerberus has escaped and is rampaging through mythic Greece. Now the Nemean Lion, the Stymphalian Birds, the Lernaean Hydra, the Minotaur are just some of the monsters in the countryside and there are too many souls in the underworld. The Greek heroes must band together to save their country from the predication of monsters. Atalanta, Bellerophon, Hector, Theseus, Orpheus, Penthesilea, Perseus, and Medea are the stalwart heroes of legend. To capture Cerberus they must defeat the other monsters first. By making careful choices, and calling upon the gods, they will be able to grow in strength! PDF from DriveThruRPG and Knight Owl Publishing.

The Magonium Mine Murders

The strange noises in the mine. Bandits on the roads. A counterfeiting scheme, a crooked prizefight racket, a rebellion in the making...and a cold-blooded murder. Times are hard in the Halbek Valley, and your player characters are right in the middle of it all. The Magonium Mine Murders is a sandbox-style murder-mystery scenario. Instead of having a central narrative, it presents the people of the valley, their schemes, and the places and things they fight over, then lets the players figure out what's going on and what to do about it. It's a sandbox full of clues. PDF available DriveThruRPG and itch.io. Print coming soon to Exalted Funeral.

The Legacy of Scoundrels

After having arrived at the village of Cairwick, the party will soon discover that something doesn't seem to be right in the castle nearby. From there, they will follow in the footsteps of Sir Caspian Mortimer, nobleman and aspiring sorcerer, into a valley to the north, where he had travelled to find the truth about his mysterious grandfather. A valley rumoured to be home to trolls, frogmen and werecats, and somewhere in this valley there is a tower that once belonged to a mad wizard, a tower now said to be surrounded by dangerous, unnatural flowers. As the characters venture deeper into the valley, with its leech-infested marshes, its overgrown, allegedly haunted ruins and odd denizens - some more friendly than others - they will step by step be able to solve a mystery buried for half a century! PDF available from DriveThruRPG.

Classic Old-School Character Class Reference Cards

This set contains printed character class reference cards for cleric, dwarf, elf, fighter, halfling, magic-user, and thief player characters. They contain all the details needed for play to facilitate rapid class selection and eliminate the need to copy class abilities and other information from the game books to character sheets. The cards are a huge timesaver during character creation and help you get your players into the action as soon as possible. Print + PDF available from DriveThruRPG.
