Old-School Essentials at the ENNIES!

ENNIE awards season is upon us as we prepare to honour some of the most exciting RPG products of the last year. While the Gnome is hard at work preparing Dolmenwood and other new projects that will surely sweep the awards next year, the 2024 ENNIES also feature a couple of outstanding third-party products for Old-School Essentials.

First of all, Gods of the Forbidden North has won a Judge’s Spotlight award! We’d like to extend our congratulations to Pulp Hummock Press and everyone involved in bringing this epic OSE campaign to life for this well-deserved accolade.

The Valley of Flowers has been nominated in both the ‘Best Setting’ and ‘Product of the Year’ categories! Inspired by fairy tales and Arthuriana, The Valley of Flowers (currently enjoying a sale on DriveThruRPG) provides a rich sandbox for adventure that deserves more recognition. Tome of Essential Horrors II is live!

The much-anticipated Tome of Essential Horrors 2 by Necromancer Games is now live on Kickstarter, promising over 150 new monsters for Old-School Essentials, lovingly detailed with easy-to-read stat blocks, short inspirational scenarios, and classic black-and-white artwork. For a sneak peek of the contents, check out the free preview PDF.

The tome is available in several formats, including an offset-printed standard hardcover, a deluxe collector's edition with metallic foil cover titles, and a print-on-demand version aimed at international backers to reduce shipping costs. Backers will also receive digital PDFs and all unlocked digital stretch goals.

d12 Monthly Issue 37: Dungeon Exploration

The latest issue of d12 Monthly goes deep and hard with articles for enhancing dungeon adventures. Including three additional articles, the complete zine features tips on dungeon design, air quality hazards, optimal races and classes for dungeon delving, factions, animals, and natural hazards with a random table for solo players.

Need even more monsters for your menagerie of menace? The new issue of Essential Enemies keeps it underground with a collection of subterranean foes.

Notable entries include the Bisector, a dangerous creature prized for its flammable guano, Blind Cave Haunters that haunt those who kill them, and Clay Golems constructing a subterranean god. Other creatures include the parasitic Crawling Head, the criminal Eyeball Syndicate, and the brain-consuming Myconians, providing a variety of unique and perilous encounters for adventurers.
