Beneath the Radiant Dome: Call for Playtesters

Adventurers, the time has come! As revealed in our last newsletter, Beneath the Radiant Dome is returning in an all-new deluxe, expanded edition—and now we’re inviting brave souls to help playtest this weird and wonderful science fantasy dungeon crawl.

As a reminder, Beneath the Radiant Dome is for levels 4–6. The adventure contains challenges old and new with a sci-fi twist, including dimensional anomalies, vat mutants, uranium zombies, giant apes, bizarre artifacts, and more!

Unknown treasures await as radiance returns! If you think your gaming group has what it takes, use the button below and fill out a short form to apply to be a playtester.

Apply Now!

Playtest spots are limited, so while we appreciate every volunteer, we cannot invite all applicants, and some will have to wait to face the dungeon in its final form.

Ryecroft Kickstarter Goes Live!

From Glynn Seal (creator of The Midderlands) comes Ryecroft, a sprawling and atmospheric cemetery crawl for Old-School Essentials.

Set within a long-abandoned graveyard shrouded in mystery, Ryecroft isn’t your typical undead bash. Instead of 2d4 skeletons and yellow mold, you can expect:

  • 160+ keyed areas across dungeons, villages, and monster lairs
  • Creepy-crawly foes and factions inspired by worms, maggots, and other unsettling invertebrates
  • Unique treasures, including magical collectibles with powerful combined effects
  • New OSE monsters, classes, and spells
  • Intrigue and lore as you uncover the dark secrets buried in Ryecroft
  • Premium physical rewards—A5 matte-laminated hardcover booklets and two A2 full-colour double-sided cloth maps

Designed for 1st-level characters, Ryecroft can serve as a meaty standalone adventure or the launchpad for an extended campaign in The Midderlands or your own setting. Check out the Kickstarter page for more details on content and rewards.

Back the Kickstarter

Explore the newest adventures, supplements, and crowdfunding projects from talented third-party Old-School Essentials creators:

  • Temple of the Beggar King, a high-level adventure for Advanced OSE with a horror twist.
  • The Horde, a supplement to make orcs and goblins flavourful, challenging antagonists at your table.
  • Tomb of the Three Knights, a low-level dungeon crawl in search of a legendary sword.
  • Cryptid Manual 2, a bestiary of monsters from urban legend designed for Dark Places and Demogorgons and compatible with OSE.

Finally, a special mention to the explorers of the multiverse. Planar Compass, an OSE zine project that detailed alternate planes of existence for adventure, has been discontinued for the foreseeable future. The creators have made the existing three issues free to download on DriveThruRPG.

“We don’t take kindly to strangers ‘round ‘ere.”

Villagers are unfriendly because:

  1. Holding the secret to immortality at a terrible price.
  2. Under the thrall of a capricious mutant child with psychic powers.
  3. Cursed to comply with any explicit requests from outsiders.
  4. All a large-scale illusion by a wizard struggling to maintain the simulation.
  5. Too many promising youngsters ended up as dead henchmen.
  6. Previous adventurer composed an unflattering (and popular) song about locals.
